What is the VSI crusher feed tube?
A VSI (Vertical Shaft Impact) crusher feed tube is a component of the crusher that directs rocks, stones, or other materials to the crushing chamber. It is typically a tube made of steel or other durable materials and is designed to withstand the harsh conditions of the crushing process.
The feed tube is a critical component in the VSI crusher as it determines the amount and speed of material entering the crushing chamber. It also affects the overall performance and efficiency of the crusher.
The feed tube can be adjustable or fixed, depending on the design of the VSI crusher. Some VSI crushers have a variable speed rotor that allows the operator to adjust the speed of the rotor, which in turn affects the amount of material fed into the crushing chamber through the feed tube.
In summary, the VSI crusher feed tube is an essential part of the VSI crusher that directs the materials to be crushed into the crushing chamber, and it plays a crucial role in the overall performance and efficiency of the crusher.
Feed tube wear problem
Replace feed tube just before the bottom lip is exposed above the feed eye ring.
The feed tube should wear evenly up the casting.
Maintaining the correct position of the feed tube in the rotor will result in increased life for the feed eye ring and upper wear plates.
Feed tube wearing on one side – feed tube not centralized.
Cracking and Breakage
Feed tube cracking on the bottom edge – excessive rotor build-up is rubbing on the feed tube and causing overheating. Adjust trail plates to reduce build-up.
Feed tube breaks – can be caused by excessive build-up in the rotor, stones wedging between the feed tube and feed eye ring, the feed eye ring coming loose or the feed tube coming loose (check feed tube clamp plate).
Feed tube removal and installation
- Remove roof and hopper in one lift.
- Remove feed tube assembly by using spring handle (will need to remove build-up).
- Remove spring handle and feed clamp plate from feed assembly..
- Lift feed tube out.
- Lower feed tube into feed tube location plate.
- Refifi t feed tube clamp plate.
- Lock feed tube clamp plate into position with spring handle.
- Ensure feed tube assembly holder is free from stones, etc., before refifi tting feed tube assembly.
